Scott Furman Gives Back

giving-back1As the son of a grade school teacher and a pediatrician, Scott learned early the value of being of service and contributing to the well-being of others. Scott’s parents left him with that legacy, and the drive to give back to his community and to the world at large.

“Even when your parents are gone, you never stop wanting to make them proud,” says Scott. “I can’t think of a better way to honor them than to contribute to three causes that were close to their hearts. It’s a privilege to participate in raising funds for such special organizations.”

In honor of both of his parents, Scott created funds in their memories: the Harold B. Furman Memorial Research Fund for the ALS Hope Foundation, and the Flora M. Furman American Cancer Society Fund. Scott has raised countless dollars for both charities, and even participated in the world-wide ALS Ice Bucket Challenge to help raise awareness for ALS funding and research.

“My parents truly believed that ‘charity begins at home.’ I try to live by that standard every day.”
